What is Abuse?
Abuse is any behavior used to control, manipulate, or harm another person. It can take many forms—some visible, some hidden—but all are harmful.
Types of Abuse
- Physical Abuse: Hitting, slapping, pushing, restraining, or any physical harm.
- Emotional Abuse: Insults, threats, gaslighting, or humiliation.
- Sexual Abuse: Any unwanted sexual contact, coercion, or violation.
- Financial Abuse: Controlling finances, stealing, or restricting access to money.
- Digital Abuse: Harassment or control through social media or tech.
Red Flags
- Feeling constantly afraid of upsetting someone
- Walking on eggshells or doubting your memory of events
- Loss of independence or being isolated from friends/family
